Focus on New Trends in Tile

I was invited by Walker Zanger Tile to partner with them for the 2014 Pasadena Showcase house in which I will be designing the ladies and gentlemen’s poolside changing rooms. In visiting the Walker Zanger showroom, I was captivated by many of their unique tile designs, many of which are rich and luxurious in texture, color and material. Used in the residential setting, these tile selections would add a rich and luxurious layer to almost any interior. I thought I would share some of my favorite selections for you to explore.

The Vibe Collection

Vibe offers a fresh direction in wall tile, inviting you to cover entire walls with intricate patterns and saturated color. The collection’s bold shapes and extravagant hues were inspired by designs from the 1960s and ’70s, when creative visionaries like fashion designer Emilio Pucci and interior designer David Hicks redefined the visual world. Vibe weaves these influences into a tapestry of tile treatments, from playful, organic forms to crisply modern angles.

Tribeca Collection

Inspired by the Manhattan of the early 20th Century, the Tribeca collection provides clean shapes and crisp lines that echo the modern urban lifestyle. In a simple palette of white, grey and black, Tribeca is the perfect choice for the classic bathroom.

Ceramica Alhambra

The new Ceramica Alhambra Craftsman tiles mark the evolution of one of Walker Zanger’s most popular ceramic tile collections. A blend of Arts and Crafts and Mission influences, these colors and shapes are perfectly suited to either authentic restoration or the realization of spaces inspired by the past.

Tuileries Collection

The Tuileries Collection offers a fresh take on classic French motifs, splendidly reborn in carefully edited decorative patterns, perfectly suited for today’s refined interpretation of traditional style. The collection’s name is inspired by the Jardin de Tuileries, which is the “central park” of Paris. “Tuile” means tile, and this historic park started its life as a clay quarry and tile workshop in the early 13th century. What could be a more fitting name for a collection that celebrates the heritage of French handmade tile and design?

The SOHO Collection

New York’s distinctive Soho neighborhood – renowned for its youthful energy and fusion of classic style and contemporary trends – is a fitting metaphor for today’s eclectic design milieu. The Soho Collection reflects that dynamism in a blend of classic design and retro urban chic that is appropriate for a wide range of design applications.

Studio Moderne

Studio Moderne is a groundbreaking collection of ceramic tile and stone created for Walker Zanger by noted interior designer Michael Berman. Inspired by Hollywood Regency, Art Deco and Classic Modernism, the bold architectural designs of Studio Moderne transcend the boundaries of the kitchen and bathroom. Featuring ceramic tile with dimensions as large as 18 inches by 20 inches, the collection inspires homeowners and designers alike to redefine their perception of tile. Studio Moderne provides the tools to create new focal points in the home, using tile as distinctive pieces of architectural decoration for applications as diverse as a dining room wall, foyer or outdoor patio.

In our design for the 2014 Pasadena Showcase House, we are excited to specify the Walker Zanger Jetset collection in the main changing rooms and the 6th Avenue collection in the WC’s. Both tile collections will work harmoniously to create what we feel will be spectacular spaces. Please visit is at the Showcase House.
